I read an article advising Medicare now pays for CT scans on former smokers. I had smoked for 40+ years & had quit 5 years ago when I had breast cancer. Ct scan showed ground glass mass. I chose to proceed with bronchoscopy & it turned out to be cancer. Nov 9 I Had surgery to remove lower lobe of right lung - Stage IB. I've had my first 6 mo. scan, which showed no cancer. Thank God I read that article in ARRP magazine! I had no symptoms at all. Also, my oncologist admitted that the radiation I had with breast cancer added contributed to my getting the lung cancer. They burned me terribly with the radiation.

I am so glad that you also had the CT scan, and were able to catch the cancer in an early stage.
