Dear wenmarlaine, is this from MLD? Can you get a replacement heart valve so that you can still have MLD? Hope you get some help

hi wenmarlaine

blimey, you poor thing

have you thought of getting yourself referred to prof mortimer in london? he's the lymphoedema guru

dunno where you are in the country, but while the nhs has still got these specialist centres it might be worth getting yourself referred (read up on the lsn website then talk to your gp)

good luck

Hi Wenmarlaine - it is a balancing act when dealing with heart conditions and lymphoedema - the best advice is to get your therapist and cardiac doctor to have a meeting to discuss your case as - while it is true that it would be unwise to push large amounts of fluid to your heart it is also not going to be good in the long term to be carrying around huge amounts of fluid in swollen limbs.

Thank you LSN..I have found that when I cut out sugar, fat and salt in my diet .my legs do go down. a little.I do think at my age I am not a priority. Will concentrate on healthier diet.

I was a member of LSN for many years always enjoyed your magazine..Will speak with my doctor again I do need to lose weight though, when I spoke with young new cardiologist at my last appointment in March 2012 he asked "would you like to come back in four years or two years" I now have an appointment for Feb 20014...
