hi mamfach

is your lymphoedema secondary to breast cancer?

mine is, & i've been lucky enough to avoid cording but everyone i know who's had it has had some physio treatment - they can give it a good massage without disturbing the lymph too much

meanwhile, a safe exercise is to hold your arm out palm upwards, hold your fingers with the other hand & bend them downwards JUST till you feel a slight pull

stay like that as long as you can, but don't be tempted to yank your fingers down & feel the pain - better to do a small stretch & hold it till it feels ok than a big stretch & ping everything back suddenly when you can't bear it any more

i'd get to a physio tho - ideally one linked to your bcc assuming it's related - cos they're the experts on this one

You could also seek out an MLD therapist who also does connective tissue release, as this is brilliant for releasing cording. (mlduk.org.uk for therapists)

Hi mamfach, I had cording in left arm after left breast mastectomy. Saw physio at hospital where I was treated and she kinesiotaped my arm which seemed to work. A few months afterwards I was diagnosed with lymphoedema in arm, not sure if it's a cause and effect mechanism or not.
