So far I have been machine washing my stockings but go on holiday tomorrow and will have to hand wash every day and was wondering what's the best powder/liquid to use to wash them? Thanks :-D

OMG!

I was told to NEVER machine wash any compression garments or machine dry either.

Always hand wash and rinse in warm water, minimum soap, they should be washed everyday and either roll in towel and leave to dry or , as i do, clip the top onto a hanger and let dry hanging over the bath tub. Also never use fabric conditioners.

Also be careful about getting moisturisers and other skincare products on the garments. They can also deteriorate the fabric.

This way I have been able to maintain all my garments until they get replaced by the clinic.

Hope this was helpful . . .

Cheers

Christo.

Hi Christo - certainly right about machine drying - although most garments can be machine washed on a hand wash cycle with non bio and no conditioner.

Hi Loobs

any non biological gentle detergent with no conditioner. Also air dry them - dont be tempted to pop them on a radiator or heater as this can damage the elastic properties. If you are going to a hot climate then take a small spray bottle with you (like you would use to mist your plants) fill it with cold water and spray your garment while you are wearing it as this cools your limb down as it evaporates. Have a great holiday

Oh thank goodness I did panic a wee bit there Christo x. Thanks for the advice LSN. I am off to the sun so I will pack a spray bottle and I'm hoping with the heat they will dry off airing in my room. Thanks again :)

Completely agree with advice re handwashing and a woollens-soap liquid, and gentle-drying. Keeping moisturiser off them -- I wish I could!

I wash mine by hand with a small amount of Ecover handwash liquid, then I squeeze them dry and lay them ontop of a towel on my airer. Usually take 24 hours to dry

Just want to say thanks to LSN as the water spray was brilliant for keeping my leg cool. Also with the heat my stockings dried quickly just airing on my balcony in the shade. I had a great holiday except for managing to get sunburn on my bottom lip which did turn nasty (but that's another story haha)
