I have decided to give myself a compression free weekend but got long skirt on covering my legs and I sit under parasol, I must be getting shorter as it trails the ground now πŸ˜‚ xx

Keep some damp towels in the freezer Bev - plonk them on your legs for a bit of instant relief.

I have a water spray in fridge for when I get to hot when wearing compressions x

I mentioned towels cos you were compression-free - cold towels are really refreshing on bare skin.

Ha ha, I thought you meant when I had compressions on x

Keep your water-spray in there too...? 😊

More likely that you’ve lost weight . I lost a couple of stones and all my trousers, long dresses etc were way too long !

Dear Bev

Love your humour, enjoy being compression free in this lovely weather that's too hot for compression garments!

Hi lovesradio, how do you manage without compression in hot weather? I tend to wrap my leg with wet towel whilst elevating but that's only possible when I am home. When out and about, I cannot do without those compression stockings despite the heat.

Please share your secret..

Sorry if I misled you, I have arm lymphoedema and wear my arm sleeve every day, but keep it in the fridge if it's hot/spray water on it.

Bev, am so relieved i' m not the only one compression free.

Its totally imposs to wear them in this heatwave

Love Lynoras idea of cold towels and my first thought was same as Quartz re yr longer skirts...are you in the happy situation of having lost some weight?

I need to wear very very long skirts to hide my ugly fat cuffed ankles..i look like im gliding round on castors! XX

What a funny way to describe it. As they say if you didn’t laugh you would cry.

Hi Algu! Yeah...Sometimes it can be difficult to keep our sense of humour with this horrible horrible condition, but it does help at times...!

However i DO I find it hard to keep SOH in the mornings, when fighting my way into my horrid toe to thigh stockings...i swear theyre so thick and heavy, they could walk on their own without me inside them! X

Hi Stella, Have you tried the cotton toe-less stocking? They are wonderful. I only wear those as I love my toes open and free to breathe and move about.

Hi sorry 304,i replied to Bev by mistake!

Thanks for the tip..what make are they please, and did you have to purchase them yrself or via yr lymphy nurse?

Hi Stella, It's the "Mediven Plus" range which an orthopeadic specialist ordered.

the other that I use is the "Venosan 102" range but this one I have is 59% polyamide, 24% lycra, 17% cotton . There is a "Venosan" stocking stocking that is 100% cotton but will cost much more. You need just specify the open toe one which is sewed in such a way that compression is still effective. In fact my foot right up to my ankle has no swelling whilst wearing it.

Hi again 304!Thanks for the info

Thats great you have no foot and ankle swelling wearing them, and they sound comfy and cool which is what we so desperately need!

My pleasure. Would be great if you knew someone close to you who uses these..then you could have a look at them and feel the quality too. They wash well too. I tend to wash mine by hand but at times place in washing machine as I wear a fresh stocking daily, thus keep a good supply on hand. Try one pair first before ordering more. Good luck!

I'm having a compression free day today, but don't have a long skirt I can wear. Come to think of it I don't have a short one either. I've had enough of the hot weather. My knee length, open-toed socks are relatively comfortable but in this hot weather they feel as heavy as what I imagine chain mail would weigh.

StellaM profile image
StellaM in reply to Thomas45

I agree Thomas, they DO feel like chainmail!

You gave me a chuckle about no long or short skirt! πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€— X
