Fluid Swelling around Middle and Back

After a lengthy spell in Hospital and diagnosed as a Spinal Stroke I have developed swelling around my middle and back what are the treatment available for this condition

You should have a chat with your GP or stroke consultant. Ask what is the cause of the swelling. Manual lymph drainage might help, but the cause should be investigated first.

Wilma are you in the UK? Wondering if swelling is related to your stroke or long hospital stay. Like Lynora I would suggest going back to your stroke consultant and GP, but also check LSN as I think they have a leaflet on trunk lymphoedema.

Hello lovesradio, reading the posts came over this one. I have lymphoedema in ankles, feet. Legs, up to my knees always look a dull reddy maroony colour. Toes like hot sausages and one of the toes next to the big toe red & shinny with what looks like a blister but is not on it. Anyway I am pleased that I found this post because I did not know that you could get lymphoedema at the bottom of your back., I find that I have a wobbly feeling in that area. Is that connected to lymphodema in the legs? please?

Hi, i think you should check it all out with a qualified lymph specialist, get referred by your GP if you are in the UK as it sounds as if you need some sophisticated compression and proper attention. The way the lymph system works/fails is quite complex but it could be that trunk lymphoedema is related to your leg lymphoedema. Good luck, try the LSN helpline 020 7351 4480.

Hello lovesradio, sorry for late reply my mind is far away at present. I just wanted to thank you for letting me know what I need to do. I have primary Lymphoedema in both legs and knew you could have it in your arms, but when I read post it just got me wondering as some odd feelings have been felt at base of my back, a fluid type. I also have a back problem which can not be operated on (too dangerous). It is either that or Lymphoedema causing this. Many thanks for replying to me, take care.
