What is the product name? I know that some emollients can be used as both a wash (by mixing with a little warm water) and also a moisturiser. I recommend Epaderm for this.

You don't need to apply it 3x a day if you don't want to. It's just a guideline.

I have used Zero cream and found it a bit sticky.

Mentioned it to a Lymph nurse and she got it changed to Flexitol.

I take a tablet called PHENOXYMETHYLPENICILLIN 250 mg first thing every morning to stop and scratches turning bad.

Then put the cream on and rub in before you dress and wash and have a coffee to let everything soak in.

Dress and i prefer the leg sox and velcro wraps.

I buy Cushion Walk flat shoes and have decorated the flap over pat bar with flowers i bought to decorate cards and this prettied them up.

I live in Trousers you don't have much choice but as i sew i do make long skirts.

One more thing go to YouTube and put in Lymphedema and there is a set of massage that helps the flow but you need to do it every day.Its an American lady.

My doctor gave me a tablet to settle my restless legs and it nearly killed me had migraines and i found out it was used in Parkinson's --keep clear of that one.

Hope this helps, with most of the NHS cuts this year you are on your own.

Hi Liz,

I used to have ZeroCream but not to use as a 'soap'. I've changed now and I have E45 wash to use in the shower and Doublebase Gel to moisturise afterwards. I also have hydramol for washing but I found cleaning the shower afterwards difficult as it leaves an oily film so it made the shower slippery. If you're able to bath I'd suggest trying hydramol as it really is lovely on the skin (I can't bath as I can't use my knees to get out). I just use these daily and my skin is now hydrated as it should be ...when I was first diagnosed my skin was all cracked and extremely dry and sore.

Best wishes

My cleaning tip is to let the bath ore shower dry only just and then spray neat wasting up liquid on..Its the same a a greasy plate you put washing up liquid on first then rub over with a sponge Rinse with water and then do it again.

The no water system breaks down the grease.

Good luck with your doctor. I think sometimes it's to do with what is on the 'list' but it should be based on what works for you as what suits one person is not necessarily right for everyone else. I use Dermol for washing and Doublebase as emollient, but Dermol can also be applied direct to skin as a cream.
