Hi! I'm new and excited to meet others and learn about your journey
Good afternoon. I'm new to the group. I already posted an item, but thought I should introduce myself. I was diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer in 2010. Had a mastectomy. Went on tamoxifen for 2 years, then quit because it made me feel miserable. No chemo. In 2022, I was once again diagnosed

Hello To You All
My husband and I continue to eat low carb, about 4 years now. Any one else continuing? Rather disappointing that low carb doesn't have a higher profile in many countries. Any idea why? My husband has also been looking into the omega 3 omega 6 ratio in our foods and the absolute intake of omega 6.

I had a good day yesterday, my husband went away for two weeks but I am fine on my own. I cooked a nice diet friendly meal for myself. There was a small amount of wine in an open bottle so I had a glass, then decided to finish the wine another glass and a half. But then I just wanted to eat icecream,

Low Carb or even Keto why is not recommended with low thyroid - can I control prediabetes with diet ?
Help please wise, kind people. I am autoimmune underactive and gluten intolerant but also pre diabetic. As thyroid stabilising and generally fine, I am now trying to sort the Pre diabetes and take it off the back burner. I have been reading around this on and off for ages and never got out of the

Meals for one, quick ideas please.
My other half is going to be away and I have a a couple of busy weeks -he normally cooks our evening meal. I have some things in the freezer and a few favourites I cook ’for one’ but would love some of your favourite quickish meal ideas. I eat salad for lunch every day and aim to be low carb but I eat

Newly diagnosed stage 4 prostate cancer, age 77, PSA in low 20 range. PSMA (type of PET scan) revealed metastasis to 7 bone sites, with intermittent hip pain alleviated with Tylenol. Occasionally short of breath because, I think, below normal hemoglobin, platelet and iron levels consistent with bone

Low carb diets
On top of everything else I'm now pre-diabetic. I wasn't prior to starting the steroids but as I'm now on 2 mg of Prednisolone a day and have been on 5 mg or less for over a year I suspect that Prednisolone is not the culprit. I've been looking at a diabetic website and it says that low carb is less

Fatigue after eating
Husband is getting very sleepy after all meals. His sugar is always below 100 when tested, he takes levothyroxine for low thyroid (waiting for over 2 weeks now on latest blood work and TSH results from PCP. *sigh* He's taking a statin (can't remember the name) and Tamsulosin. Current cancer treatment

signs of mild hypothyroidism?
Hi there, New to this forum 👋 grateful to be here 🙏 I’m wondering if anyone could shine some light on my thyroid test results. In March 2023 my TSH was 0.98 (range 0.27-4.2), and my T4 was 15.5 (range 12-22) - this was done with a private GP so sadly no T3. These bloods were taken after 12pm and

prednisone and side effects/ dosage related
hi I am presently on 8 mg for PMR. I’ve been on 8 mg for a couple of weeks. I’m wondering do people have food cravings and weight gain issues on 8 mg. I find I have to completely watch every morsel of food I put in my mouth and I must stay low-carb just to maintain, I lose very very very slowly but

Moderate eating diary to track instances of GERD.
I have decided to keep a diary, consisting of my stomach condition on rising and the foods and medicines I take thereafter, during the day. And at what point, if any, I have symptoms of Gerd. The idea is is pinpoint what triggers, might be causing the (every 2 days a week or so) of pain and bloating I'm

I was diagnosed May/June 23. I had just had my diabetes check and all was OK. Fast forward to December check and definitely not ok! I had been eating low carb and had lost weight. Life became very difficult from October with a nasty fall, mental heath crisis for our grandson while we were looking

How I reinvented myself after PMR
I have sat here and thought to myself I haven’t reinvented myself at all, I then thought again and realised that yes I have. Before my symptoms started I worked part time in a major supermarket and would take overtime. I started the symptoms and carried on thinking everything was okay and would improve

Chronic Hashimotos and long term side effects
Hi, I was diagnosed with Hashimotos 41 years ago after 6 years of feeling awful. A locum GP spotted a goitre in my throat as I was talking to him. I have been on 100 mcg of Thyroxine ever since. Now I am 66 . I have always suffered from hypoglycaemia-type symptoms after any type of exercise (even

Nausea - is it the pred, or something else?
Hello and thank you for the constant flow of useful insights. I know that stomach problems are a known side effect of steroid use, but I couldn’t see anything under nausea in the FAQs - sorry if I’ve missed it. This is my story: I’m 73, PMR diagnosed in summer 2020; since when I have reduced successfully

Quick update and my usual questions to follow 🙄..... So, I managed to get through my two weeks on 15mg and tapered down on to 12.5mg where I will stay for a further 2 weeks (until the 16/01/24) using the 3 tablets 1 day and 2 tablets the next set up. .....(couldn't get a pill cutter quick enough and
