Hi - I am suffering from severe anxiety and panic attacks after becoming a surrogate mother. Is there anyone else out there who has been a surrogate and can identify with any of this?

Hi Marieannele

I was a surrogate in 2011 my pregnancy was healty the whole 9 months was good but i had my first full blown panic attack 4 months after giving her to her parents..i think this was the last dip on my emotional scale of emotions that just tipped it..its not easy being a surrogate as your body i think and mind has already bonded with thd child inside and once the baby is gone your soul and body doesnt understand why your not a mommy suddenly. well thats what i think..Just also want to commend you on being such a humble person that you would give your mind and body up just to help someone else expierance the joy of parenthood.

Think i should of gone for some type of counsiling before given birth..

God is love ...love is God..peace

Thank you for getting in touch. It is so good to hear from someone who has gone through this as well. My main issues don't really stem from the child itself but from the dreadful way I was treated by the parents. I wish I had received counselling before the birth too - I think it should be compulsory... I have dreadful flashbacks and memories of the birth and the coming home from hospital experience.

thats just awfull how could they even treat the person that gave them the gift of life in such a manner no way!!! The parents that i was with they were great loving and still keeps in touch with pics and stuff..we did everything with Christ love so that might be the difference..your right it should be made compulsary...i am really sorry for the way they treated you you deserve so much more after what you done for them.

I think that was the difference - you will be shocked to hear that the person I did this for was my cousin....I think maybe she couldn't bear the thought that I was her daughter's birth mother and couldn't handle the fact that she didn't give birth to her...
