Coming off sertraline...?

Hi all, I'm currently on sertraline 50mg dose and would like to come off it. I'm trying to get a doctors appointment to talk to them about it but in the meantime could anyone tell me roughly how long it takes to come.off it? I'm hoping I can be off it before I go on holiday.

Not sure when you are going on Holiday so not sure what time spam you are looking at

I think it depends how long you may have been taking it on how your Doctor would want you to taper of to come of it but I don't think any of us could really say how long this would be between you & your GP but they will help you & I would follow their advise

Even if you don't manage to taper of it completely before your Holiday you can still go away and have a nice time with the knowledge that you have started to reach a goal that you sound like you want to achieve

Hi gemp, yes I have reduced and came off sertaline before 50mg is not a big dose, ( I'm on 200mg) so I'm sure your doctor will take you off them, mine I halved for two weeks, then I had half every other night for two weeks, I think most people get slight ( I mean slight ) side effects when coming off antidressants like they do when starting them, but you ll be fine, make sure your doctors knows what your doing and agrees as you don't realise how much they work and you need them until you come off them, also coming off them to quickly makes you feel really awful, so do it with your GPs help. And remember no one can force you to take them !!!! Good luck keep Intouch and let me no how you get on .
