I had a tkr in Oct of 2013 and developed an anxiety disorder as a result of not being able to get out of the house (record setting coldv& snow in MI) and being alone for the most part for 5 months. It was unlike me. I started to worry about my grown children & husband being out in the weather excessively. I started tracking all the meds I had to take & when I took them - as an obsession. Dr finally put me on meds to try to avoid adrenal crisis but I ended up in the hospital on crisis for 10 days. It is situational anxiety but it's anxiety all the same.

Hi Mary & Welcome :-)

I agree what ever has caused your anxiety or whatever way it affects you it is the way anxiety leaves us feeling that we all relate to

Thank you for your vote & comment :-)

Hi Mary,

I totally understand what you mean about your anxiety being situational, so is mine but believe me it really is anxiety all the same and if it gets going it can be paralyzing.

How are things for you now? Are you able to get out and about more? There's nothing worse for anxiety than being alone with too much time to think. If you're anything like me, your mind goes into overdrive!!!

Finding this community was a godsend to me; being able to chat to other people who understood what I was going through made such a difference and stopped me feeling so alone with all these thoughts. I hope it'll be the same for you.

Looking forward to getting to know you better.

Love

Thanks for taking time to respond, Lizard. I am pushing myself to get out more but it's a real struggle sometimes. Yes, being alone with my thoughts that won't stop does make it worse. The knee issue is still on going. I'm thinking if I can start healing & moving better, I will be able to move through and hopefully past this! Pain Clinic prescribed a TENS Unit yesterday. Though I don't have the energy to fight with insurance to get the unit, I'm hoping I will be able to get it soon & it will help.

Again, thanks for responding. I'm very appreciative.

My sis uses a TENS machine for chronic back pain and has found it v helpful so fingers crossed the insurance comes through for you. I think you will notice a difference when your knee starts to heal and you can get out more.xxx

Wow - health anxiety is really nipping ahead now. If I didn't have HA I think I'd be basically fine as it's the constant worry that drags me down.

So many people seem to suffer from it now.

I think at the moment health anxiety, because im worried as to whether my foot is going to loosen up more.

Also ptsd can set me off ,if i have flashbacks, thankfully they are getting less.
