I would imagine this could be a common trait amongst anxious people, it certainly has been for me for as long as I can remember: I feel more socially awkward in summer because I can't hide behind a long winter coat, scarf or hat. I always feel awkward around people anyway but during the warmer months I feel more exposed. The less clothes, the less hidden I feel which just seems to exacerbate my anxiety. Can anyone relate to that?

Hi aguy

Nice to say hello to you :-)

Yes I can relate to that , not as much to hide behind in the Summer & feeling more anxious like you are exposed & people will notice you more , I think this could be a common trait amongst a lot of people suffering with social anxiety

Thank you for your comment & vote :-)

Thank you and a pleasure to greet you too. :)

My anxiety pretty much runs the gamut. Unfortunately I have all insecurities too. :(

It's too difficult for me to put my thoughts down these days although I do believe it could be beneficial. Too many personal problems, too much anxiety and too much uncertainty about my future. I will continue reading as often as possible.

in reply to aguy

Hi aguy

Do you keep a diary ?

Members have found doing this very helpful :-)

I think we all have personal problems & struggle to open up about how we feel

Sometimes the emotions we feel can help with out sharing the exact problem that is personal to us can help as what ever the problem is it is the feelings that we feel that we can struggle to deal with

I ever you want to post , always keep your post to this community only as you scroll down & it keeps it private :-)

Or just do a post saying Hi to everyone if you ever feel like it & get to know the members , that also can help sometimes :-)

Hope by reading though it is helping in some small way :-)

Thanks for the encouraging words. Nah, I don't keep a diary; what for? I know this affliction inside and out, I've been struggling with it for more then half a century now. Besides, I wouldn't know what to write, I'm extremely self critical, as most anxious folks are. I suppose that being here though is a wee bit of a sign of redemption. I never realized just how prevelent this condition really is, it's mind blogging to read so many posts that I can personally relate to!

Hi I have suffered with anxiety for years on & of to & everything stays logged in my mind but surprising sometimes when written down that I have done better or things are not quite as bad as my mind has created them to be , it can help some even though maybe not for everyone

I am pleased though that by relating to others that at least you know you are not alone even though I wouldn't wish anyone to suffer with anxiety

I feel I have more responsibility in the summer ugg for some reason when it gets real hot an humid I feel anxious. Fall an summer seem to be at a slower pace for me like hybernating I guess lol

HI why x I think I feel more anxious in the summer as the kids are off so its all about dealing with the pressure of them being around and keeping them entertained when I cannot get out x Its hard, and then the holiday comes and they go off and Im alone and then i sulk as i hate being alone. So summer is not the best x Hopefully it can be again x Donver

in reply to

Hi Donver

As you know I have had anxiety on & off for 30 years or more & even when the holidays came about when mine were young & my anxiety was good I still felt like you do

Under pressure keeping them entertained but sad & alone when they were going back to school

I wonder if Mums in general feel this way or if it is an anxiety thing

Hi Whywhy

For me summer holidays means more children on the bus etc and more noisy everywhere.

I like being outside more, but it has to be close to home, eg my garden.

in reply to

Hi Gardener

I remember that used to get to me to , but with not going out I suppose I don't see it as much now

I don't like the summers much - screaming kids in the gardens, very late night/early morning loud BBQ's from neighbours, hot sun making work more tiring, can't sleep as it's too hot - what a miserable old b*gger I am! :-)

in reply to Bramwell

Hi Bramwell :-)

Well I wouldn't exactly say miserable , just at the age shall we say :-D

Well I don't like the BBQ'S either as you know so if you are miserable maybe I am to :-/
