ILD and weight loss

I have been existing with ILD for over 7yrs now and the condition has started to become progressively worse. I am 63yrs old and with continuous steroids and not eating enough to keep a fly alive I ballooned to a size 30. My daughter stepped in 2yrs ago and makes sure I eat 3 meals a day and the treats we all love.

In total now I have lost eight and a half stone, I can't say it has made any difference with my health but it has made a difference for my carers in handling me. I'm now down to a size 14/16, no diet involved just good wholesome food, to be honest I've never eaten so much.

All of the big size clothes I have given to a young Ukraine lady who is with a local family as they put a plea out as they couldn't get any clothes for her and all she came to the UK with was jeans and t shirts. Bless her she said she has never felt so lovely and elegant. I feel so proud knowing I have helped and the clothes aren't going to a landfill.

So anyone else struggling with weight problems due to steroids maybe this will give you some inspiration.

I’m sorry to hear about your struggle with weight. Chronic steroids can have side effects such as this and maybe you should discuss the possibility of a Steroid sparing agent with your doctor
