I had a CT scan which apparently showed varacies so was given a endoscopy however when they did that test there were none to be seen or treated is this normal ?

The only accurate method of checking for varices is the endoscopy so it is great news that you got the all clear during that. Endoscopy is really the only way to thoroughly check the oesophagus, stomach and duodenum hence the reason people with cirrhosis have to have them so regularly - if a scan was accurate they'd do that instead of the risky and invasive endoscopy but as you found out scanning isn't that reliable in looking for varices.

Good news for you on the clear endoscopy. My hubby has had 42 varices banded and one massive upper GI bleed when 7 burst.
