I'm posting about one of my brothers (61 years) who was diagnosed 4 weeks ago with secondary AML. He is being treated with a new drug called Vyxeos and the plan is that he has an SCT in January. I'm wondering if there is anyone here who has experience of this drug?

Many thanks.

Vyxeos is a liposomal version of a combination of two well proven drugs - Daunorubicin and cytarabine that have been the backbone of AML treatment for decades but used to be given separately. It's been shown to have significant benefits in getting people to SCT.Good luck to your brother.

Yes, I've been doing some research. Many thanks for this. I'm wondering has anyone been using this new drug?

Hi, no, I am no good on the medical side but obviously care a lot about your brother and I wondered how you are? I expect you are in shock as well. The Leukaemia Care website has lots of reliable information on it and their support line details are on there.I think being a family member is like being the unsung hero, I expect you have so many thoughts, emotions and practicalities going round and round. Look after yourself as well.

Thank you so much for your thoughts. I've been having a look at the website you mention and have forwarded it to my other 3 siblings, all of whom are dealing with this differently. Many thanks again.
