Hi

Would really love to hear from anyone who has experience with this rare type of leukaemia.

My son was diagnosed in December 2020 and is about to undergo a bone marrow transplant

Hi, welcome, no, I haven't had a bone marrow transplant, but for support and advice:

Email: support@leukaemiacare.org.uk Freephone helpline to talk to someone: 08088 010 444

Opening times: Monday to Friday 9:00am - 5.00pm & Thursday and Friday evenings 7:00pm - 10:00pm.

It must be so difficult for you as a father having a son firstly diagnosed with a leukaemia, then during Covid times and now facing a bone marrow transplant.

You don't say how old your son is as that depends whether you are the one having to make decisions for him or being powerless over your son's decisions. The main thing is that you both take care of yourselves and stay safe.

He turned 18 a month ago, and I'm his mum not his dad lol

Oh, I am so, so sorry for calling you his dad and not his mum. A complete brain lapse.Your son is probably legally responsible for making his own decisions over his treatment and care, but probably also still your little boy. I think being a parent is so difficult as you are on that same emotional journey as your son and would also do anything possible to make him better. Please take lots of care of each other and in hindsight, as a family, I wish we had talked more to each other and really listened to how each other were feeling, thinking and coping. Have the odd treats and apologies again it was very rude of me.
