Hi guys....if any of you have had a BMB how long do you wait for results? I'm seeing my heamatologist next Monday...nearly 3 weeks after having it. He said he would contact me if needed to see me sooner but I haven't heard from him so I'm hoping I wont need to start treatment as he mentioned last time. Am I mad to be a little bit cautiously optimistic?

I’ve had a couple of BMBs, the first during my diagnosis for CML, the second 3 months later.

At diagnosis I got the results less than a week later. At 3 months I waited a couple of weeks.

I guess you will get the results on Monday.

Best wishes

Hi Welsh Lady, your question is probably not one anyone can answer. My reason is I think and hope we are looked at as complex individuals with individual histories and medical test results by our medical teams when the way forward is considered. As for how long we wait for results seems to depend on individual hospitals and medical teams appoint availability. It is interesting how my mind goes through the fears, optimism, what if's, thoughts and feelings in a roller coaster. Please do let us know how you get on next Monday.

Hi Welsh Lady. Thank you for your post.

It is difficult, as CLL patients we spend so much time waiting and wondering, we get used to living this way over the years, as treatment time gets close it becomes very hard . You are definitely not 'mad' to be a little bit optimistic about treatment not needing to start.

Good luck for Monday and keep us posted and let us know if there is anything we can help with.
