"A common misbelief about leukaemia is that it only affects children. Acute leukaemia affects around 500 children each year in the UK and around 3 in 4 of these children are diagnosed with ALL – one of the only cancer types to be more prevalent in children than adults. Aside from ALL, however, the other types of leukaemia are actually far more prevalent in adults affecting over 9,000 people in the UK each year. This is the equivalent of over 24 adults diagnosed every day, the majority of whom will be over the age of 65 years old.
