Hi Mellissa

Sorry to hear your mum is not to well

Usually you would be signed upto a trial which would include induction chemo

You don't say exactly what the infection is

You need to be more aware of infection control issues there is a very good section on Leukaemia Cares web site which you can download

Also your hospital should have an infection control nurse that you can ask to speak to

It is very important that your Mum tries to stay infection free from now on

You could talk to your mums consultant and ask them for some advice

Or maybe your hospital has got a Heamatolgy councillor you can speak too

Good luck going forward

Hi ,

My wife has t-cell ALL and at the moment doing ok,we've done induction and phase2 and now waiting for transplant and I speak to a lady who's husband has just had his transplant and doing ok,so things can get better.

How are you in yourself I found the first phase very stressful?

How old is your mum?

Is she on ukall14?

My my mum is 52 years old and has t-cell all at the moment she has had induction chemo phase 1 and has had a lot of complications so they have cancelled her second bout of chemo for the time being they have said on the 12th june she will be able to have a a stem cell transplant if shes well enough it is very hard as i have seen her lose most of her hair and break down out of thirst for life she is fast becoming a shadow of herself its not easy to see im 27 by the way hope things improve for your wife i dont know what ukall is thanks for the message .

Ukall14 is the trail drug your mum is having,it's hard to watch your wife, mum anyone really suffer but I hope things improve for your mum.

I've got a lot of positive things from people on here so if you need to talk.

My wife is at Wakefield Hospital and lady I also talk to on here her husband is Barts in London. Were are you if you don't mind me asking.

Do you have plenty of support around you ?

Yes I speak to the same person, she is a head of us on the treatment so the experiences are their and she is lovely to talk to .we need the little community to help each other through these traumatic times.

Take care.
