HFC* syrup, . . . & its introduction into 'S.A.D'** - a glimpse into US history !

Hello ! Just joined, . . . & a first post on this forum !

*HFC - 'high fructose corn' & **S.A.D. - 'standard American diet'

Radio4 prog from today: bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0012s7z - one episode of 'The Political Butterfly Effect' series, duration ~14mins. Worth a listen, . . . to understand one aspect of how 'S.A.D.' developed & was adulterated by political underpinnings ! Does not seem to say how long this will be available, but its usually at least a year, . . . if not indefinitely !

For those who gain weight easily, find it hard to lose & keep it off, & perhaps even have dark, scaly patches of skin, known as "acanthosis nigiricans"*** a lower carb, higher (selected) fats diet may well be helpful, suggests increasing volumes of credible-seeming evidence !

(*** - worth 🔍ing for images of this, . . . if unfamiliar with it !).

One sound introduction to HI ( - hyperinsulinemia, said to be the START point of type 2 diabetes) & what to do about it is available in the Ytbe vid 'The Bittersweet Truth'.

The tendency in the current medical practice is to take elevated fasting blood glucose as the start point, but this is actually TOO late, as the vid explains clearly !

Kind regards to all readers,

Sid :)

Thank you Sid. I've never heard of acanthodians nigiricans so looked it up. Thankfully don't have it but will know what it is if I see it. I'll see if I can find the programme as it sounds interesting.

Very interesting podcast. Sadly it seems that in the USA, profits are far more important than healthy eating requirements. I’m not sure it’s that much different in the uk either. Highly processed food is more readily available and much cheaper than fresh unprocessed food. When I visited a Florida supermarket while on holiday a few years ago I was truly appalled to discover almost a whole isle devoted to poptarts and bread sweeter than cake, not to mention the sheer quantity of processed foods available as standard.

Ad free but not fee free (if you’re in the UK). The annual licence fee of £159 goes towards this and all BBC programmes - TV or radio - and I-player.

Thank you for this. On a lighter note, here are two short videos - one is an ad promoting HFC, and the other is the Saturday Night Live version.

. . . both < 2mins, . . . & worth a watch ! The 1st an ad by 'Corn Refiners Association HFCS Party' - rather like executives from the tobacco industry swearing that nicotine was not ( - in their view) additive !

Thank y🍥u t🌞🌞 . . . !

. . . also came across & appreciated this short animation abt HFC processing: m.youtube.com/watch?v=6-uL2... - which explains that HFCS55 is a blend of HFCS42 & HFCS90. This by sweetscam.com/ - which may be an education organisation ?
