All carbohydrate is turned to glucose in the body. Diabetes UK declare that carbohydrate intake is the greatest determinant of blood glucose levels.

Is it a coincidence that the healthy eating guidelines, focussing on a high carbohydrate intake, were introduced in the 1980s? Carbohydrates were considered a harmless alternative to ingested fat that was considered a chronic disease risk. What if those premises were wrong all this time?
