For the past few days I've been up till around half two in the morning wide awake, it only seems to be on the days where I know I have to be up early the next day...that's probably the reason but I don't know what to do so I can get to sleep easier...any advice is welcome

Hi there, There's 2 things that worked for me and the first one is a remedy you will need to do on a daily basis. if you can either squeeze the juice from a lemon or buy a lemon juice bottle, put about a spoon full or 2 into warm water and take that an hour before going to sleep (remember lemon is acidic so brushing teeth is essential). this is said to help clear up or de calcify the pineal gland which helps control your sleeping patterns.

second method you may believe or don't believe is listening to solfeggio frequencies, there's 528hz and 936hz (which i found helped with sleep). just 10 or 20mins mins is enough. I could explain how it works but you might find it difficult to understand. don't listen to these together but just one a day without headphones, in a open room before going to sleep and see how you feel. from personal experience 528hz felt like it was passing through me, which is a bizarre feeling and 936hz from 9/10 helped me nod off.

hope these help.

I've had my own experiences with long periods of ansomnia and here are a few things that helped me -

Try to stay away from any phones/tablets/digital devices for a while before you go to sleep. In my own experience once I stopped habbits like browsing the internet late in the evenings, I managed to drop off easier. If I'm looking at a screen for a long while right before going to bed I find it really hard to switch my brain off. Theres a lot of research that suggests looking at a digital screen inhibits your ability to sleep too.

Also if you have a phone or tablet don't keep them in the same room as you at night. It will stop you from picking it up and playing with it if your bored and find you can't sleep.

Secondly try reading a book in bed before you lie down to sleep. This is single handly the best thing I've ever done to help me sleep, and I can't recommend it enough. Before when I got into bed at night and turned off the light, my brain was still racing and it felt like it was impossible to turn off. But if I sit a while and read a few pages of a book, my mind is distracted and everything else just floats away. By the time I'm ready to turn off the light my mind is peaceful and I drop right off.

You don't always have to read much, sometimes just a couple of pages. And I've found even its 1am I'm heading to bed, 15mins of reading is better than nothings at all. If you can read something that you already to know the story to that can be good too, because you can be sure you won't get too ingrosed in the book and you won't just stay up late reading instead of going to bed.

Hope this can help you in some way.

Relieve yourself of worry by setting an alarm clock that you know will wake you up on time.

Don't drink caffeine or eat sugary items after 2 pm and try drinking some sleepy time tea (no caffeine ) before bed.

While in bed focus on breathing and not thinking - I often picture an empty beach with sun and clouds floating by.

Good luck.
