I think that you may have depression. I am in the same boat here. I have been out of work and looking. As soon as I find a job I'm still not happy about it. Sometimes I think that it's my situation and where I am at. But I have come to realize that I am in a very deep depression that consumes me.

Do you have any other symptoms? Such as a loss of interest in things and are you finding it hard to get out of bed?

You mentioned feeling sad and lonely after you lost your job? Or were those feelings ever there before the job loss?

Hello

thank you for your reply sorry it took some time to reply.

yeah currently on medication atm 4yrs now coming up too 5yrs. Still really can't say nor write associated words relating to this matter.

When I had/no job I felt pretty much sad. At times I knew the feeling was there but didn't make out it was there if that made sense

You don't have a problem so don't beat yourself up about it. You have made the effort to find a job and that's a good thing. Having thoughts like "I should be happy" and other self doubts is just the depression talking. Everything takes time especially with depression - we often want to feel better instantly but it doesn't work like that. You could just try the job and see how it goes ? I know that's hard when you are still feeling low. I remember when I started a new job 2 years ago it was very difficult on the first few days to the point where I felt so stressed I then had to take several weeks off sick again. My employers were ok though and I had sick notes to cover. Eventually I went back and found that the work and routine and human contact really helped me to recover. Everyone is different. If you try but then don't succeed well at least you've tried and you should feel good about that at least. If you try and do succeed well great. Many more employers are sympathetic and accomodating to people with depression these days so my advice would be to be honest with them as far as you can. Good luck.

Well done on getting the job!! The Job won't create happiness though that needs to come from with in.

Do you live alone, do you have close friends or family? Do you have a life out of work, do you have hobbies or do exercise. All these things are important factors in helping your self esteem positivity and confidence.

I am happy to chat more about this if you want

Hello

thank you for your reply sorry it took some time to reply.

I currently live with my mother not going too great. I do have some close friends which some I started to become abit more open too but at the same time afraid of what they might think of me if I talk too much. Unfortunately I don't really have much of a life outside of work. My self esteem or confidence right now is none

Set yourself small achievable goals so if you want to get fit then include something in your daily routine to help you towards your goal. You won't believe how much exercise helps things. Then look back and see how much you have achieved each week. You have already achieved a major goal by getting a job. You did that, they hired you because your great! 😃

You have a really good reason to be happy in a world where getting a job is difficult so tap yourself on the back :)

you're in a environment where the day to day work will slowly move your thoughts away from any negativity so take this easy. slowly grow accustom to the day to day workload and slowly build your confidence in your new job. Now that you have an income think about and plan how you would like to occupy your spare time, like most have suggested a hobby or interest where you are engaging with poeple. this will only contribute to your confidence and self esteem and slowly help you feel better about work.
