With a low count <50 I would consider staying away from work until it starts to climb.

Unfortunately financially when only on standard statutory Sick pay in the UK the amount of money you get isn't that much to live on

Hi I have been diagnosed since July 2016. My count has been varying from 23-30 lately but used to be about 30-40 I have still worked all through it. Many people have much lower counts and just lead a normal life (obviously just taking a little more care of themselves) I think you just have to have a positive mental attitude and get on with it don’t let the thoughts get in the way of your life and just try to carry on as normal. It’s frightening when you are first diagnosed as not many people know anything about ITP but it’s very unlikely that you will get a blood clot. Try not to worry I’m sure you will live to a very old age as many people have already done

Hi there, just asking if you don't mind what type of medication have/are you taking, I've been having 750 ml rituximab and 6 tranexamic acid tablets daily unfortunately my levels are stuck below 6

Hi there, the first couple of months I didn't work as it just wasn't viable since then I've had a further 3 months off under the doctors instructions as my job is manual rather than office. As I've already mentioned to you my levels are still extremely low but my doctor has agreed for me to go back with reduced hours as long as I look out for myself and do the lighter work, of course if anything starts to change then I'll have to stop. I myself have been living with the idea that something could happen to me at anytime and it does affect your mental health so hopefully going back to work for part of the time will help as long as I'm careful.

I got diagnosed November 2020 and my lowest count was 12. When on steroids at the start of journey I was off sick but this was due more to the risk of catching covid. I think if you are careful when your count is low you can live a normal life.

I was put on Revolade and my count increased and then after receiving both mycovid vaccines I was taken off it.

My count is now 341 with no drugs and I am back living a normal life.

Keep going and stay positive x

I work in an office, platelets normally around 30. I get tired but continue to work. Can’t imagine having to do manual work as I get so fatigued.
