Pain in heels.. Interferon related or not?
Hi, just wondering if anyone has had painful heels especially when walking while being on
Interferon
? I’ve been on
interferon
for around 9 months and every so often I struggle to walk due to the pain, it does ease off and it happens randomly. I didn’t have this before taking
interferon
.

Happy new year to all Now Christmas is over my next appointment is looming on January 5th. I am to discuss whether to start Peg . I have ET and have been on 500 hydroxycarbomide daily for over 3 years Although this brought my platelets down from over 1000 they have stayed around late 700s mid 800s

Interferon alpha
My doctor has suggested putting me on
Interferon
Alpha and sent me the leaflet guide from MPN voice. The side affects seem vast and in all honesty, quite scary.

I’m collecting my
Interferon
therapy today after seeing my Specialist in Oxford (UK) yesterday. Recent platelet count is 506 and my BMB is showing no fibrosis. I’m feeling a little apprehensive but hopefully won’t have too many side effects. I also have to take Allopurinol for the first month.

Interferon reaction
I started
interferon
back in August and it's going okay. I am having a reaction at the injection site. My skin is rash looking, bright red and dry. Is there anything that works?

Interferon dose.
I started peg
interferon
on Jan 2nd this year. I seen a haemotologist, not the one that had prescribed it, on the 31st Jan. I was injecting 45mcg a week for them four weeks. My platelets showed no change so he immediately upped the dose to 90mcg a week.

Advice about Hydroxycarbamide/ Anagrelide please
I have been taking 135 micro of
interferon
every two weeks with a 90 dose on the other week. The consultant asked me to increase to 135 micro every week. I'm worried because he said I'm being resistant to the
interferon
and only 10% of people don't respond to
interferon
at all.

Splenomegaly and Interferon
Did anyone who has been treated with
Interferon
for PV or MF and got their allele burden down see any reduction in splenomegaly? And if so, to what extent?

Peg Interferon Journey
Just to encourage those starting on Peg
Interferon
to be patient & to be your own advocate on your treatment. I started on Peg 2 years ago after asking for it due to my intolerance of HU after my ET Jak2 diagnosis following a shoulder sports injury.

does anyone out there have histamine intolerance?
hi I’ve just changed from hydroxicarbamide to
interferon
. Seems ok, fingers crossed, but I also have histamine intolerance amd the absence of Hydroxicarbamide seems to be allowing my mast cells to have a high old time churning out histamine. Has anyone else experienced this? Louise

Travelling with interferon/pegasys
Hi , I have just recently started on the pegasys weekly injections . I am travelling to Greece and wonder if anyone can recomend the best way to keep the medication at the correct temperature whilst flying and travelling. Is there a chargeable medication box which I could charge using a battery pack

Interferon and the liver
question to all my MPN people on here who are taking pegasys or besremi, how do you manage elevated liver enzymes? Do they cycle up and down? Is there anything we can do to bring them down? What is acceptable to y’all? My hematologist says not to worry until they hit 2-300.. My blood numbers actually

Cataract surgery?
Is there a problem with eye surgery while taking
Interferon
? I'm about to be changed over to Pegasys from Hydrea, and also about to have cataract surgery. Some of the things I've read seem to indicate that may be a problem.

PV fatigue
I have just started Pegasys
interferon
after failed treatments of phlebotomies and Hydroxyurea. My fatigue since diagnosis and treatments starting 2021 is all consuming. I don’t know how to deal or cope with the tiredness, lack of energy, and overall feeling unwell.

ET, platelets and stroke risk
I was diagnosed with ET three months ago and as I am high-risk (over 60, JAK-2 positive, another mutation and a couple of TIA episodes) I have been prescribed daily aspirin and weekly Peg-
interferon
.
