me and my girl friend of 6 months went to hospital to check why is not pregnant and he doctor advised us to do a test on Thursday which came out as hiv 1 reactive , hiv 2 non reactive, vdrl non reactive on Elisa and she advised us to go for western bolt and today we collected the result and hiv 1 is positive and hiv 2 negative, am so confused and scared to go for a test, what should i do

Dear Murphy

I can understand your anxiety but there is a solution.would suggest that you both get tested with an Antigen test eg.PCR which is confirmatory.

Alsp please visit an ART Centre near where you stay they are the best. If you are Pune or near abous then NARI ( National AIDS Research Institute main) of the clinic at Gadhikhanna would be ideal.

You should also know that very good medications ART is available free in ndia for both HIV1 and HIV2 .

Pregnancy for HIV positive couples is possible today since it appears that you want a child and that the child should not test positive for HIV. This will require closed supervisions and ART during pregnancy and breast feeding.

The important thing is to not loose hope and do the actions as soon as possible.

I HAVE DONE THE TEST WITH ELISA AND IT IS NON REACTIVE HIV 1 AND 2, VDRL NON REACTIVE AND HAPETISIS B NEGATIVE

Murphy since you have mentioned "girlfriend: you may have to consider leal marriage also
