Covid and on Ecmo day 26

My brother is on day 26 both ventilator and Ecmo. Doctor said he stable but Ecmo and ventilator are both set at 100% 😔. He doesn’t seem to come down any! Sometimes he drops to 80, 65 and then today back up to 100%. I’m so worried about him and about my mom. My mom just lost her sister to Covid 2 months ago and now our brother in fighting this horrible virus! My brother is 48 and still has a lot of fight! Please pray for my brother and my family! 🙏❤️😔

I hope things improve soon for your brother and your family. Everyone responds differently to the time it takes. He wouldn’t be on ECMO if he didn’t have a good chance. Stay strong.

Quite agree - my family were always told that if it got bad enough, I would move to Wythenshawe to go on ECMO. Well that day arrived but they wouldn’t take me because they assessed that I wouldn’t survive the journey - they must believe he has a really good chance, that is not to deny that equally he is in great peril too - fingers crossed😊

I understand the heartache and worries you are going through

My dad is 4weeks in to a hospital admission three of them on ITU and ventilator. He is awake now and has a tracheostomy tube which allows him to wean of ventilator in his own time but his oxygen requirements go up and down daily and the slightest movement and he needs his oxygen increasing to 100%

It is very scary times for us as a family and we haven’t seen him for 4weeks, some days I feel like I’m already grieving for him then some days I’m planning his home coming

No one can give you the answers but I Spoke to a councillor who told me I must take one day at a time and not look to far ahaead and each day find something positive no matter how small

Thank you!! Your right everyday we take what we get good or bad! I hope your dad continues to recover ❤️ My brother also has a trach and on day 42 of vent (trach) and ECMO. He still sedated and we pray he can get better enough to get off the Ecmo as it has complications being on it too long. Thank you for your encouragement as I know you are also going through this and we have our fears! I pray both our loved one can beat this!
