Girlfriend with ckd was put in an induced coma. Help!

She now has multiple organ failure and the doctors are saying to prepare for the worst. She is 18 years old and I'm so confused. They said she would be under for about a week I wasn't prepared to say good bye. Can she make it? What is the survival rate.

Hi Jacob sorry to hear about your girlfriend.  I was put in an induced coma and according to my friends and family they were told numerous occasions that I wasn't going to make it and prepare themselves for the worst.  So don't give up they do have to inform you of the worst case scenario and keep telling her to fight and hold her hand, and use this forum to offload.  My thoughts and prayers are with you both xx

Thank you. I'm glad you pulled through. The doctor wants her parents to sign a dnr but they refused. Thank you for your prayers

Thank you for checking in I was told last night that I would have to say my good byes today by the doctor.. I woke up from a text from Jenny's mom saying she had a great night and all her number are improving.. Shortly after they told me they are going to pull her out of the coma to see how her body reacts.. Could take anywhere from a few hours to a few days for her to wake up. And the best news of the day came last.. She finally got a kidney match and they are on the last step which is the psych test for the donor. Thank you for your support

Aww brilliant I am so happy for you all.  Fingers crossed she wakes up smoothly and quickly just remember it may take her a couple of days to completely come round and recognise everyone but finally on the last track now xx

Hi Jacob

Just to echo the other replies. Don't give up. They (rightly) have to prepare you for the worst case. My wife had "the talk" four times in the first two weeks. I had "profound septiceamia leading to multiple organ failure", and 5 weeks in an induced coma. I survived pretty much OK (minus a bit of tongue!). Be loving and understanding and expect lots of tears from each of you. You will not know what she has been going through and she will have no concept of what it has been like for you. All our thoughts are with you.

Hi Jacob,

Don't give up hope, I am here now, watching a movie with my husband, getting irritated once again by his night twitches... When only 6 months ago I was told the very same thing...

Just be there.

Thank you! She is now breathing on her own and she is getting restless so I guess that means she is waking up. We are praying she doesn't have any serious brain damage. But her condition is still stable and it has been nothing short of a miracle. We are keeping our fingers crossed

Dear Jacob, please be compassionate and kind with yourself, I know it is hard but being there for her is so very important. I know from my own experience how I just craved to have friends and family near me when I was in ICU. i am now preparing myself again to return to hospital and know they will be there for me again.

Hello Jacob, greetings from Canada. I am sorry to read about your girlfriend. Please do not give up. I was critically ill with sepsis and septic shock.  like your dear girlfriend, I had multiple organ failure. The surgeons told my family I wasn't going to make it several times and my family were told to gather to say their final farewell. Some how I managed to survive my ordeal. Each time I was operated on my family was also told I could die on the table. Don't give up. I wish you and your girlfriend all the best.

Thank you so much. I'm so grateful she woke up I was the first person and only person she asked for. She still can't talk but she is regaining her strength. I know it is still a long road ahead in this recovery process but I have faith. I wish I could make her better but I'm going to continue to be as supportive as possible

Hello Jacob, I am so happy for you and your dear girlfriend. It will take your dear girlfriend a few days to have the strength to interact with you. Rest assured she knows you are there with her. It took me a week or so before I could whisper softly and I am confident your girlfriend will be able to speak very soon. Be kind to yourself and know that your strength is helping your girlfriend every minute. Recovery is a slow and long process. Be patient.. I was in the hospital for 3 months and been home for 5. Each day brings new joy and discovery of my will to live a meaningful life.

All the best..

Haly

Oh Jacob I am over the moon for you and your girlfriend and her family 👪.  You will need your patience for a while longer as she will take time to recover but it's all worth it.  You are a remarkable young man and I would of been over the moon to have someone care for me so much at 18 I wish you both health and happiness x
