Hey everyone,

just wondering if anyone else has been prescribed this and if so any thoughts on it? Wasn't given any info just told to pick it up so going off the leaflet inside and started tonight with 2 pumps, 1 on each arm.

Thanks 🤷‍♀️😊

I had a hysterectomy last year and was offered all different types of HRT including the gel. I chose the patches in the end but thought the gel sounded really good. If you are not happy with the gel maybe you could ask to change to the patches or the tablets. I find the patches really good but they do leave a mark when removed where the sticky bit is but a small price to pay not to go into immediate menopause 😊

Thankyou for your reply,

i haven't had many symptoms as such, a few intense hot flashes but that could also be pain meds, and sleep is an issue atm but again could be a number of things. Is the patch estrogen only? I dont mind the gel its no different from daily routine anyway, im just worried its not going to give me the protection i will need for the bone density 🤦‍♀️ sorry for going on!!

Hi, yes the patch is oestrogen only. I think the gel is a more up to date way of HRT. I’m no expert but from what I read Oestrogen replacement is supposed to help with bone density. I also take a calcium supplement and do a bit of walking and jogging. x

I saw very little difference on the gel. I now have a patch and that works much better. The patch I have is about the size of a postage stamp.

My pelvic floor physiotherapist suggests that has less estrogen than Premarin vaginal cream I have to use. Just remember it’s all unapposed estrogen. Don’t smoke reduce your fat intake. Breast exams are important

That means estrogen only without progesterone. I’m not doctor but I read a lot. I understand symptoms vary depending on the age you are at your hysterectomy like premenopausal or post. I’m 59 I’m using vaginal estrogen for atrophy thinning to prevent further pelvic mesh damage. Gosh hard being a woman sometimes.
