I am 8 weeks post TAH and my vertical scar which goes above my belly button down into my bikini line has healed nicely. I am wondering what I can do exercise wise? Am up to walking 3 miles but thinking can I do anything else? Anyone got any ideas? Although I’m starting chemotherapy this week it would good to keep as fit as possible.

Hi,

Do hope you are feeling stronger though please, please give yourself time to heal.I went through exactly the same last year but, only nasties in the right ovary and lots of Endometriosis.

The walking will be fantastic for you.I was also fit before the surgery and keen to return to being really active...we are all different and it just takes time.

I comment regularly on the My Ovacome site. The ladies on there are fab and have so much good advice.

I really recommend doing your daily pelvic floor exercises also...it’s helped me no end.

I do apologise I’m not able to offer too much advice on which exercises to do.The healing process for this op internally is longer than we all realise.

I follow some of the fast pace walking programs/advice on My Fitness Pal,great for getting your heart rate up and keeping you toned.

I do hope your treatment goes well and 2019 is a much healthier year for you.

Best wishes,

Clare

Thanks Clare I’ve tried to listen to my own body and rest when I need it. The walking has helped my body and mind and I am now thinking it will help me through the next few months of Chemotherapy. I’ll take a look at the Ovacome forum.

That sounds like a very good move.

I know it's a massive experience to,"get your head around." I just wanted to reach out and let you know I've been there and totally empathise. Walking is so very good for you, as you say for your mind also.

Sincerely hope you respond well to Chemo, as I'm sure you will. I was stage 1a and not a twinkle has returned...just a blooming recurrence of Endometriosis which sucks but, I am very grateful it is nothing more sinister.

Sending lots of good thoughts.

Take care xxx

I had one tumour grade 1a but another 1c hence the further treatment. Belts and braces and then fingers crossed. Good to hear yours has not come back 💕
