Hi Kim,

From my experience it differs from hospital to hospital, I had a hysterectomy in 2014, at Nevil Hall Hospital in and there was 3 weeks between pre-op and the op. Following that I had further pelvic surgery in 2016 and 2017 at the Royal Gwent Hospital, on both occasions I was given a provisional date for the ops, (provisional dependant on the blood test results) one of five days in 2016, and seven days in 2017. Both these hospitals come under the same health board in Wales. According to my GP a pre-op assessment can be up to 6 weeks before the op, depending on the type of surgery.

hope all goes well for you, Sarah

Normally within about 4-6 weeks otherwise they will have to do your pre-op again!

I was given an op date as soon as I saw my consultant. Saw my GP 13/12/17 and referred for urgent attention as he thought I had ovarian cancer. So I saw oncology gynaecologist early Jan and he set the date for the op then. My op was 6 Feb by which time I had been told that fairly certain not cancer but I was fortunate to be treated as a serious case because of the symptoms I had
