Hi my name is jo, im 48 and having been having gyno problems for a while. I have been advised to try the prostap monthly injections to see if they help. Reading the other posts i dont have constant pain and im not having monthly bleeding. I had an ablation done 2 and a bit years ago and that stopped the constant heavy bleeding. I know i have cysts in my uterus and they think possible endometriosis. Ive been having hot sweats and disturbed sleep and headaches for years and i thought i was nearly finished with the menopause. I wish i had insisted on a hysterectomy back then but they didnt want to give me one. I cant seem to find a very positive post about the injections and not sure if they will do anything for my symptoms which are a funny mixture of every post ive read. Any advise on the injections would be great. Thanks.

Hi Jo,

No as you no longer have the heavy bleeds nor pains could you not consider just getting a hormone boost with hrt patches to get you over the rest of your menopausal days? I believe Drs will prescribe it up to 60yrs and in some cases women can stay on longer as they continue to feel good. 60 is what the budget people say but a fair Dr may let you go on longer if you have vast benefits.

My mum took HRT in her mentalpause phase I believe back then it was tablets she had side effects that made her have to come off it. Patches bipass liver so they are safer and personally I really do well on my patches.

I'm on Evorel Conti. I take the combined patch as the progesterone is supposedly fighting any left over Endometrial tissue from Emdometriosis.

Sorry you havnt had much of a reply to your thread and I've never tried the injection but believe the bleed and pain are usually joint reasons to have it and you dont.

Get booked into your local HRT

Centre and speak to a specialist.

The constant supply of hormone and not the natural dip and peak is also beneficial and can help migraines as it has mine!

Good luck

Helly!

Hi

I had my second injection last week. The doctor thinks I have adenomyosis and have to have another injection next month. If I continue to be pain free the doctor will give me a hysterectomy. How are you getting back n with the injections now?
