Rare finding on my Pathology Report?

Hi Ladies

I found the results of my pathology quite odd. The surgeon post operation talked very openly with me back in my room the next day about the treatment he gave to me for Endometriosis which was extensive (around my bowel and (ovaries) which went) and Adenomyosis was highly suspected even pre surgery on the MRI scan due to womb size and texture/appearance.

My Pathology seems to only refer to a 'Rare' finding of proliferation (mushrooming, rapid growth of cells) of tubules and columns all in keeping with "Wolffian Duct" (Mesonephric duct) remnants.

When I looked it up it sais that it's rare as this boilogical matter usually stops production after embryogenesis, and mine seem to have kept on growing.

There are such things of this rare finding having worsening conditions called Mesonephric Cysts/ Tumours and Mesonephric adenocarcenomas, the later is cancer. Ok so maybe its best out of me for those reasons alone.

Very little is known about the effect of its growth, prognosis etc.

There is 0 mention on my pathology of the endometriosis that was treated (taken away) and Adenomyosis? Not as there specific names as such?

I just felt like the pathology report could have been about someone else's condition and not what he actually described to me post surgery?

Somehow the missing parts off the pathology report are making me feel like my operation wasn't warranted. I know it may seem odd but I can't get my head around the missing info about Adeno and Endo.

*Sigh*

Just feel a bit odd over this pathology.

Hi Helly,

You should ask about both conditions directly. Someone should definitely answer your concerns. Tell them you can't continue on recovery until you know all the facts to put your mind at rest. Its a big operation and you should not be dismissed. I had my hysterectomy 5 years ago and received one follow up afterwards. That's it!!!!

Best of luck with your recovery. I'm sure from what you say the hysterectomy was definitely needed, but do express your concerns it's your right to .

Thank you Charlie.

I have been tooing and fro-ing and might write to the consultant to ask for his report write up of my operation.

At least it should have all the details of the Op which he initially discussed with me.

I want to be able to discuss accurately what went on with me during the op, his findings and tbh the pathology isn't really that important if he said he found a load of endometriosis adhesions I believe he found a load of endometriosis adhesions!

I would definitely ask for that, his secretary can probably give you that if you ring her and explain.

Thanks so much I will do! When I met him afterwards for the 6 week consultation he was sitting with a red nose and hankie and sounded like he was dying with a cold and tbh it threw me a bit I didn't get to ask what I needed to ask. I somehow felt like not bothering him with my questions. I really felt like pathology he read out was for a stranger considering what he described to me post op.

I know what you mean, I never say what a want to at the time!!! Just proof he's a human too though.

Don't let it get in the way if your recovery. If you need the info then ask for it, they are your notes, about you!!
