Feeling Guilty

Hi ladies! I am 1 week (on Tuesday) post laparoscopic hysterectomy, I have been able to manage pain with only ibuprofen 800mg. I have been able to walk around with no problems or pain, just discomfort in my lower back. Yesterday and today I am noticing i am super light headed. My blood pressure is good and I am drinking water, has anyone felt with this even when you feel good? I wanted to go back to work this Wednesday, but wondering if it is too soon? What were your experience with this surgery? I am feeling guilty!

Hi Bubblegirl

I doubt you’d be ready to go back to work next week. There’s a lot of internal healing still to do, even if you look healed on the outside. Most people take at least 6 weeks off, I needed 11! Don’t overdo it!

The lightheadedness might be from the anaesthetic. It can take a couple of weeks to get it completely out of your system.

Take care, you’ll still need to rest but great you’re feeling so well. Xx

Hi there. I’m now 6 weeks post op having had a total laparoscopic hysterectomy with both ovaries removed plus tubes and cervix in addition to excision of endometriosis.

I think it’s highly unlikely you are ready to return to work. I too felt that good a week on but over the coming weeks had a lot of niggles and twinges etc and now pain from nerves healing. It’s vital you rest. Your body has been through the mill with this operation and there is lots of stuff going on internally. If you’ve had your cervix removed your cuff needs time to knit properly.

Returning to work this soon will set you back and could present more issues eg prolapses in vagina and rectum

Take time out and rest.

I’m the worlds worst patient and struggle to sit still but I have done on this occasion because it’s too risky.

Please do not feel guilty. You absolutely need to rest. If you must return to work, consider a modified work schedule.

Hi I have had my hysterectomy 2yrs now I’m feeling so energetic than ever , I will say don’t go back to work so soon if you can take at least 6wks off to rest , it’s still a long journey to heal properly, you don’t want anymore complications, also you’ve got to work on your pelvic muscles and a bit of lower excercise

I have lower back pain once in a while so I think it comes and goes with time , and also now is the time to listen to your body anyway I wish you well ,
