Post op pain

Hi 👋

I’ve had my hysterectomy and BSO on the 9th of March & so far so good apart from having constant hot sweats...I wondered whether anyone had suffered hip/top of buttock & back pain afterwards? It’s been slowly getting worse over last few days to the point I can lie on my left side as the pain is so bad, I just wondered if anyone thought it might be related to my op

Hi Hutchy,

I had exactly the same!I had the same op and within a month or two it had settled down.If you’re concerned and the pain is getting worse be sure to call the hospital or doctor and they can reassure you....it really is a big op and genuinely the best advice really is to rest and really take good care of yourself.

Top tip for the hot sweats...sage tea!Bloody marvellous stuff I have one or two a day,it really works!

I had the same and Lower back pain, especially after possibly doing too much in a morning. I would wake up pain free but need pain relief by mid day....Did you remove ovaries?

I removed everything so needed HRT and I can day that prior to the Hysterectomy I felt perimenopausal anyway. The three days post op that I had no HRT were horrendous I couldn't sleep and had sweats, both hot and cold, my skin was red and I was 'hearing thing's' as I tried to doze over to sleep and had anxiety too, it wasn't a nice feeling it was kind of like a feeling my body was missing my hormones and I was running on empty of sorts 😭

The patch HRT started working almost straight away though I've had 2 increases that have finally wiped away horrible migraine headaches that I got on both 50mg and 100mg patch. Currently on 150mg patch and a bit spotty but I'd rather the spots (seem to be going) than migraines.

I am not surprised that I needed higher dose of HRT, Im under 40 and a hormonally reactive person who took migraine only in the past 9 years... Of course I don't know your situation or if you need HRT, if you consult your specialist or Dr regarding your op and your symptoms they are sure to help you.

Get help soon though as its not pleasant and no woman needs to suffer!

I had both ovaries removed too, I’m 38 with a history of dvt & osteoarthritis so starting hrt isn’t going to be as simple as I thought it would be, I now need referring to a specialist in Newcastle which looks like it’s going to be end of June before I get to see her, I was on zoladex before my op along with hrt but that had to be stopped 4 weeks prior to my op as you can imagine the menopause symptoms have well and truly kicked in, I can’t remember the last time I slept all night 😬😬

Holy Moly that's a powerful lot you have had going on! Can anyone else in your GP's advise on what you can take to help you? Before the specialists appt?

I'm sorry I don't know more herbal remedies. I can't imagine how you must feel, if I don't get sleep I'd be charged for murder. I'm useless on no sleep!

I really feel that women are a bit left out in the cold after these operations. I know for a fact that my GP surgery will struggle the minute I ask for HRT advice. I best get a referral for the HRT clinic I suppose.

I hope some more answeres pop up for you here ....

Thank you, they’ve even advised against anything herbal until I’ve see Dr Mansour I’m just praying for a cancellation or I’ll be to take away if I have to wait until end of June x x

Oh I do hope you get a cancellation. Make lots of phone calls to his secretary reminding them you are available for cancellation!
