Is anyone experiencing a swollen stomach 3 weeks after post op of a laparoscopic supercervical hystorectomy? It seems as if my stomach is getting bigger everyday. I have no discharge or blood but wondering why my stomach is becoming uncomfortably big.

Im 9 weeks on all very swollen still was told to expect swelling for 3 months after op but I wonder too whats going on in there. May best to see GP though just to make sure I still have discharge and alot of pain too but have been told it just healing. Very annoying and painful though trying to find anything to wear. I have a belly bandit support that helps a bit.

Hi,

I totally agree with AlicePirate you can expect some swelling/bloating for some time.I'm 7 weeks post op and it's often a sign you need to rest, drink lots of water,as water retention is common whilst the body is healing.Ironic that you need to drink more water!Forgive me but, many of us also have slower bowels after this surgery and this too can cause bloating. If you're not passing any heavy blood(don't be concerned if you get a little it's quite normal in the first 6 weeks)you may just need to put your feet up...this surgery requires loads of rest.I do hope you are feeling better soon and please do contact the hospital ward if you are concerned but, don't rush yourself it takes time to heal inside and out.

Best wishes,Clare
