Last chance to run the Brighton Marathon on behalf of the HSF - 15th April 2012

I know that most of us aren't able to walk a mile, let alone run a 26 mile marathon :) but if you know of anyone who would like the opportunity to run the Brighton Marathon, please just let me know.

We already have two brave young women running - Gemma - whose father has Hughes and Camilla - whose brother was diagnosed four years ago. So if you can think of anyone including your children, family, friends or colleagues please let me know.

The Hughes Syndrome Foundation charity has only one place left in the Brighton Marathon being held on Sunday 15th April 2012. If you want this final place, you have to register by the end of February 2012.

The registration fee is £50 and we ask that you try to raise at least £300 if possible.

With sun, sea and a spectacular race, the Brighton Marathon has become one of the UK’s top running events and already has 18,000 entries, with the registration now closed to individual runners.

If you want to be part of our team, achieve a lifetime’s ambition AND make a big difference to a small charity, please email us on ring on 0207 188 8217.

Cheers Paddy - I am still hopeful we'll fill all the places. When we had our one and only London marathon place, it was taken by an Hughes patient who had had a DVT the year before so you never know! Personally, all I can run for is the train :)

If I lived in the UK I would be all over this. Good luck with the fundraising and have fun! Liz, you have a great attitude, you CAN do it! I ran my first marathon last October and plan to run many more :-)

Hi Liz - thanks for thinking of us :) If you're not quite up to a fully fledged marathon yet, how about considering running in the British 10K this year?

This year’s British 10K is taking place on Sunday 8th July 2012 and the Hughes Syndrome Foundation has eleven places left.

I haven't really advertised these places yet but am letting our supporters and volunteers have first choice :)

I think these places will go very quickly as the 2012 Olympics opens in London shortly afterwards on 24th July, so the race promises to be a spectacular historic event through the heart of London involving hundreds of runners, Olympic athletes and ceremonial bands. The organisers are already strongly advising people to enter now to avoid disappointment.

Registration is £20 and we ask that you try to raise £200 sponsorship money if possible.

Just let me know if you're interested - places have already gone and I think it's going to be a really memorable experience, plus 10K is so much more manageable than 26 miles!
