Been offered a coag machine by a fellow Hughie.....good price :) so I've snapped it up, should recieve it tomorrow!!

I've had a word with my doc' today & mentioned it & he has asked me to bring it in next week & he & the nurse will look at it & see what strips it takes & which sort it is & we should be able to get started :) :)

He took my inr today too...it's at 2.4 now....he's agreed about getting my inr higher so has changed warfarin dose to 9 & 10's now for a week & see how it goes.

I'm so glad he recieved that letter to reasure him about my inr level needing to be higher than 2.8.....I like him being back on my side, hes a good doc :)

I'm still getting lots of horrid symptoms :( I hope they go soon.

Love & hugs to my Hughie family :) xx

hi sue did you have to use new g boots , or do i have wrong doc ? glad things are better for u . where im am there is no machine that i have heard of to test. this seems to me that its as good to be able to test your self ,then hear from doc. here like i said before , i can test any time i need, then call docs office , tell them i tested and just where am i . with me it keeps my state of mind[ what little is still working ok ] i guess thats the difference asto the way we are treated in the different countries. it seems to me the numbers on the warfarin is much higher than here, than again not quite sure. in my stable , the highest i have are5 s, i dont use them much. could be because that i have a hard time just keeping myself some what stable. with my wacko system, i guess thats the best i can expect. your buddy jet

Congratulations on your acquisition of a coag machine and what sounds like an understanding doctor.I've used them for many years now and regard mine literally as a lifesaver. My Gps are seeing the benefit too. With a target of 3.8 to 4.0 and testing every other day I picked up a problem with a 2.2 within a day and took steps to correct it. Had it fallen below 2.0 I would have been off with my stock of heparin for a top up at the hospital. What a sensible way to manage INR for those of us whereby an unpredicted drop in or INR can mean big trouble.

Enjoy your new freedom.

I love my machine! To be honest I think my doctor likes it better as well. I no longer take up my time and or his for adjusting my dose. When I see him now, he knows that I am in need. It stops those little complaint appointments and saves my healthcare dollar.

Hopefully it will help me too like that where in the end I wont need to see docs as much as my inr 'hopefully' stabilizes!
