I'm having off and on sharp pain on the top left side of my head and it is very piercing and it comes and goes every 5, or 20 min later.
I have these. My consultant says that they are continuous (clouser) migraines. I am on Gabapentin for the pain which helps.
I get these as well - diagnosed as ice pick (or stabbing) headaches and are part of the migraine family. During an attack, the pain is always in the same place (although not in the same place every time I have one) and it leaves my skull / scalp (?) feeling very tender to the touch. I haven't pinpointed a trigger for them though. I haven't been prescribed anything for them so usually just rely on paracetamol, which whilst they don't make it go away, they do help take the edge off the pain. I wish you well in finding a solution that works for you....
I get a similar pain in the temple area, tender to touch and feels like a stinging nettle has been brushed on my skin.

Lots of us have this, so we're conjecturing it is a common APS symptom.
There seems to be different reasons for each of us when our nerves do this -- like for me, it only happens sporadically when I have a Herpes flareup -- just a tiny mouth sore or blister on my lips or up my nose... which a lot of times is signaling getting sick, hence "fever blisters."

I have this from time to time if everything else in in a flare, after two or three days it goes away again but is distinctive from my other migraines. Mary F x
I get these "icepick" headaches but it varies which part of the head and they only last about 15 minutes so i never bother taking anything for them
hi i got this pain in my head its sharp and i keep going dizzy wif it. its in my lleft side just above my temple bit worred
I get these stabbing sharp pains in my head, generally top left side but it goes away in a matter of seconds, sometimes I worry what it might be.
It happens sporadically.
I have NF1, could it be related to my condition?
I get the exact same symptoms. Did u ever get it seen to?
Hi, Do you also have APS (Hughes syndrome) ? I had those pains before I was put on the right bloodthinner. That was for me warfarin. It was said to be Micro-embolies (tiny clots).

You are quite new and i wonder if you have find an APS-doctor for your problems. Micro-clots are tiny clots from too thick blood we have.They may give you a stroke.

Well, it seems everyone has a similar story to mention but doesn't 'reply' actually denote some kind of solution or resolution to a problem, and not symptoms others are experiencing? Seems I've done exactly the same thing, but from a different context.
People want diagnoses not similar stories!! Is anyone going to provide a productive health diagnosis for these kinds of headaches???? I don't even want to mention my own symptoms because it isn't why I signed up!!!

You can not believe how difficult most of us have had to get a DIAGNOSE! So very few doctors know about this illness. We are not Medical trained here but we have the disease.
It is through our "stories" we understand that we have got APS. Of course I can not know why you have headache. How could I (?)
I had short, stabbing pain in the back of my head or on the right side also sometimes. I was told it was tiny embolies. They disappeared after I got warfarin for Life.
We have too sticky blood and must have our blood thinned by anticoagulation to feel good!
There are several books available for sale on Hughes Syndrome Foundation charity website.
I prefer "Sticky Blood Explained" by Kay Thackray.

You have answered on a 2 year old question. If i were you i would put a new question on the Forum and have help from others on here.
I do not know if you are satisfied with my answer. We have all had to fight to get the right treatment.

mine are like a piercing pain from let about 5 inches from head to left side of neck..a knot forms n seems to move with the pain..someone please tell me what it may be because i lost my insurance and cant go to doc for something simple
I am having this also and they only last a few seconds but holy ow....I have a VP Shunt on the right. Don't understand
I get these too but don't take medication for it. Good to know I am not alone. We all would love answers. No doubt one day someone will come out with a solutions
