I'm not sure what blood tests I should take to determine if I will test positive for APS again. I recieved approximately 13 test result via mail from my neurologists who says all of my test are negatve but he wants me to go and see a hemotalogist. What tests do I need? How do I read the results I currently have?

The tests which look for antiphospholipid antibodies are:

the anticardiolipin

the lupus anticoagulant (not be be confused with lupus itself - the name is a double misnomer which has stuck unfortunately)

the anti-beta2-glycoprotein1

All labs have different testing ranges so it would be impossible to say what you should be looking for, but any positive results will be flagged up.

Hello,

When I was first diagnosed with APS my then hematologist was very good and some of the tests he did were the following:

Anti-Cardiolipin Antibody (both IgG and IgM)

Protime

INR

PTT

Fibrinogen

Homocysteine, Total Plasma

APTT

APTT 1:1 MIX

Lupus Anticoagulant

Protein C (Activity)

Protein S (Activity)

ANA

Cardiolipin AB IgG

Cardiolipin AB IgM

Cardiolipin AB IgA

Plasminogen Activator Inhibitr

Fibrinogen Antigen

A number of mine were out of range, including the first, which is the APS indicator. A good hematologist will at least run the first one with several of the other ones. If s/he doesn't, find another one. I just went to a hematologist who refused to run any of these, so I left!

Good luck!
