Re the question about the price of the Coagucheck Machines. They are in the region of £400. Not cheap, but as I have said previously well worth it for the peace of mind it gives, especially if you are away from home and unable to attend the warfarin clinic.

Thanks Joyce - they are usually £400 but Roche Diagnostics were doing a discount on the Coaguchek XS recently at £300. They now also offer a payment plan which can be spread out over the year so it's not a huge chunk in one go. Roche can be contacted on freephone 0808 100 7666.
Yep I too would like one, I asked mey docs recently & they told me the price & I would get the strips on perscription free, but I will have to see about my pennies & how far they will stretch this year!!
My varifocal specs usually cost more than the coagucheck and I'm lucky if I get two years out of them before my prescription changes. I discussed this with the nurse when I took my machine for its six monthly test and she agreed with me - her specs cost ever more than mine!

Yes - that's the important thing to do before you invest in one - make sure that you can get the strips on prescription from your GP otherwise it's not affordable.
