Not sure if Warfarin can cause headaches but I take Amitriptyline to reduce migraines as well as keeping an INR of above 4. Some people also need an anti platelet on top like Aspirin and Clopidogrel. My specialist keeps talking about adding this in on top when I have a bad patch, but it makes the high INR even more risky.
Hi edgewater100,
May I ask you if your INR (over 4.0) is taken in a vein or in the finger? How often do you test your INR?
Why I ask is that perhaps you test too seldom and then you do not know that your INR is too low that special day you get the headache. Do you have positive Lupus Anticoagulant?
I have not heard of anyone with APS having headache as a side affect of Warfarin. Have you started the Botox?
Usually headache is because of a too low and unsteady INR but it can have other causes. Also in some cases if the INR is very high it can give a bit headache and dizziness. Symptoms that usually come from too low anticoagulation.
Hi, other things can add to the headache party etc! Low B12 can cause nasty headaches, etc, have you been tested lately? Also if you iron is low, that will not help with this either! I hope you can get to the bottom of it, I know some people can get rebound headaches/migraines due to pain killers. I hope you get a break from it soon. MaryF
my migraines stopped once i was on warfarin...i know thats not helpful but maybe you should speak to someone about it
