HI, do check in with your GP, maybe some blood tests to check your B12, Folate, Ferritn etc. When mine was low I had far more of this, and I also started having 2 Magnesium baths a week, which helped me greatly and still does. I am sure your GP can help you with this. MaryF

Recurrent thrush can be a symptom of Sjögren’s. Sjögren’s is often associated with APS.

Sometimes you need a different or several day course of fluconozole tablets, and then after an extend course ( less often for much longer time)

If you are in the UK , Dr Rebecca Price of Swindon is an expert in just this issue, and can make recommendations to your GP.

As MaryF says,

magnesium bath. Buy magnesium chloride crystals in bulk as much cheaper, you need quite a lot in the bath. Can also be used to make your own "magnesium oil" , also, much much cheaper than one you can buy ready made. Google it for instructions.

I use capsules of magnesium bisglycinate, approx 133mg

magnesium per capsule which I take at night, for cramp and restless leg. works within 30 mins. I am not a medical professional but am relating my personal experience. Best of luck :-)

My husband has had restless legs for years. Just recently I bought him these and he said they are amazing and have helped tremendously. At the first sign of restless legs he places 4 tabs under his tongue and within 20 minutes, his legs are relaxed and he sleeps through the night.

Mag Phos 6X- Natural Remedy Prepared to Clinical Standards (nerve and muscle relaxant supplement), Available on line.

Does your husband have Antiphospholipidsyndrome?

No he does not. We’ve no idea the cause of his restless legs.

That's the homeopathic remedy isn't it?

milkwoman profile image
milkwoman in reply to sue_b

I think so. I stumbled upon the suggestion on some website and decided to buy it for hubby to give it a try. He now uses it at the first sign of restless legs and he says so far it’s worked every time.

Wish we had found it 15 years ago because that’s at least how long he has been plagued by restless legs....

Hi Rach

I have had restless legs for quite a few years, usually only really bad in the evenings when I was very tired. Last year I had a dramatic worsening of it, started to happen all day and night and was also happening in my arms and other parts of the body. Advice from the neurologist was to increase Ferratin levels to above 70 but little else. However it was driving me to absolute distraction and I started googling it and came across several articles that reported that some antihistamines can make the condition worse, I connected the dots and realised that I had been taking antihistamines daily due to the very hot weather causing increased hayfever symptoms. I changed the type of antihistamine and the restless legs returned to their 'just' annoying levels and the other parts of my body returned to normal. I found the following on the Harvard Health Edu site -

"Many common drugs can aggravate RLS symptoms, including caffeine, alcohol, and nicotine; the antihistamine drug diphenhydramine (Benadryl), which is found in many over-the-counter cold, allergy, and sleeping pills; prescription antidepressants such as amitriptyline (Elavil), fluoxetine (Prozac), and escitalopram (Lexapro); and antinausea medications, including metoclopramide (Reglan, others) and prochlorperazine (Compazine)."

Best Wishes

Amanda

Forgot to say that the newer, non-drowsy antihistamines that are less likely to make you feel sleepy – such as cetirizine, loratadine and fexofenadine don't have the effect on restless legs - I changed from Benadryl to Certrizine
