My target inr is 4

Today self tested inr was 2 😐 take fragmine injections when inr is around 3 or below

Felt unwell the last couple of days as recently prof hunt has raised my azathoiprine dose from 150 mg to 200mg. Daily . Apart from it crashing my inr think it’s making me feel really ill 😐

Thinking about stop taking it ?

On the good side in the past when my inr falls to 3 or below I would always get amourus fugax a type of Tia which I think is a good thing any thoughts why I don’t seem to get amourus fugax any more even with such a low inr of 2 ??

Its possible that the azathioprine can be thinning the blood, as I've looked at side effects and one is bleeding. Taking it wouldn't show with the INR.

There's quite a list of possible side effects, so yes it could be making you feel rough. It may be just your body getting used to it, esp. the higher dose. I wouldn't just stop without getting medical advice.

I would put a call through to Prof Hunt and report how your feeling. (Pm me if you need the number)?

Hope it all improves soon xx

I hope it all settles down for you, it may take a while, and so much virus around currently, it is sometimes hard to find where one thing ends and another begins. Keep well. MaryF

Tim, I can understand your concerns and feeling so unwell, but please do not stop the AZA without referring to your specialist.

I am so sorry you are having such a terrible time.

With good wishes,

Ros

I'm sorry u r feeling so ill but in my opinion it is more likely u feel ill due to a low INR rather than the Azathioprine.

It is well known that Azathioprine inhibits Warfarin (and so more is required) I crashed to 1.1 when I started Azathioprine and now take 18-20mg of warfarin (the dose isn't important - the INR is !)

See how u feel once the INR is back at 4.

When my INR drops much below 4 I feel achey all over - flu like, have terrible headaches, pains in muscles particularly my legs. (Which I assume is due to the blood being stickier and not carrying enough oxygen around my body). I also get what I think r micro clots in my head, which are very painful and stop me in my tracks!

As I said b4 Azathioprine is correctly dosed according to weight so that each person on it has the same amount in their bloodstream. For example: My father is on 150mg and I'm on 200mg. He is thinner than me and weighs less.

So I wouldn't get hung up on the dose u r on because it will be right for ur weight and should be adjusted if u gain or loose weight.

So give it a chance and see how u feel when ur INR is up again! Good luck 💋
