APS and heart ablation

Hi, I was diagnosed with APS three years ago. On plaquenil and aspirin. Today I was told I should undergo an ablation for SVT. Terrified! Has anyone had any experience with this procedure? Thanks.

Hi, do you know what might be causing your tachycardia?

Mine eased off when I was 53 and my periods stopped, so it may have been hormonal. It may have been caused by anemia from losing a lot of blood every month and it often happened in the week after my period.

I didn't have the ablation and hopefully will not need to now, but if it had carried on it would have been sensible to have it. One time I ended up in A and E with a heart rate of 180!

Good luck.

Thank you all for your encouraging thoughts. Viv112, for me it's just the other way round. It started just 4-5 years ago, and I'm 52 now.

My tachycardia episodes started when I was 46. There are also certain things that trigger it with me. Pseudoephredine, which is in decongestants like Sudafed and nasal sprays can give me a rapid heart beat so I don't use them. Nexium gave me palpitations so I stopped using it. I discontinue any medication which gives me even slight palpitations. Also monosodium glutamate in sauces can give me palpitations. I used to avoid coffee but I'm ok with that now, fortunately!

Thanks! I never thought about MSG and will pay attention to it now. I certainly drink a lot less coffee and alcohol than I used to.

to StickyBloodMentor : The recommendation for ablation came as I had an episode of Atrial Fibrillation (AF). The SVT has been under control with medication for 5 years.

Its so comforting to know that so many other people have been struggling and succeeding.
