Bleeding into muscle.

Hi, I have am having bruising on my calf, which is bleeding into my muscle. My Dr has said that my blood is too thin and I need to reduce my dose, however if I do this I will feel like crap. My INR is 3.5 within my range. He did say that there was a new anti coagulant called Noak or something like that, but he was not comfortable with prescribing it for me and that I need to see the Haematologist at the hospital. Is there anyone else on this forum who is coagulated differently than with warfarin.

Thanks for replying. I have had five DVT's in my lower left calf. The same area as the bruising at present. So Venus I think. I have spoken to the sister in the Warfarin clinic as she has suggested that I reduce my INR so it as low as I can go without it causing me trouble, My INR range is between 3.5-4.5. Take my INR every 2 days measure and watch. Any problems go straight to Jail, No A&E.

I realise this is tricky, but yet the jury is not fully out yet on the alternative you mention. I would certainly wish to go to casualty with that sort of thing going on, making sure that your GP and consultant is informed as to your currently situation and any changes with that. MaryF

Hi, I also selftest every second day. That way we can follow our INR and feel safe.

You have a rather high therapeutic level and I can understand if the Specialist is a bit afraid that you are going too high. I feel best near 4.0 but I doubt I should be over 4.0 at least not much. Do you really feel very bad when over 3.5?

Best wishes from Kerstin in Stockholm

My brain was not with me there as I did not realize you were bleeding just now. I have never had a bleed but I fell on the pavement here in Stockholm the other day. It was ok but my hands were red/blue and knee etc. Perhaps bleedings?

Yes I understand you feel bad when the INR is low. I do not like it under 3.5. But does your Specialist mean that you should be under your therapeutic value now? That is under an INR of 3.5.

When I am under my therapeutic level I take a Fragmins-shot. Is that possible for you?

Hope you have got an APS-Specialist around you. Take it easy it will be ok I am sure and it is good that you have the possibility to selftest so often. Tell us how it goes for you.
