A large study has shown that if Aspirin is taken as soon as possible after a stroke or symptoms like a TIA, it can reduce the risk of further stroke within the next 6 weeks by about 60%, which is better than the 13% previously estimated.

People who have warning of strokes, where the symptoms resolve within 24 hours, stand to benefit by self-administering aspirin even before a scan can be organized says the NIHR.
