In reading this study on APS induced mice, the researchers made this blanket statement.

"Many patients develop neurological symptoms in the absence of ischemia but the underlying mechanisms leading to these manifestations are not yet identified...... In conclusion, our results are the first to indicate a role for the dendrites and in particular the dendritic spines in the pathogenesis of aPL-mediated central nervous system dysfunction in eAPS. The autoimmune-induced neurodegeneration in the absence of ischemia could also be a possible contributing factor to the central nervous system dysfunction in APS patients."

Therefore, for those with APS who have neurologic symptoms without stroke, there is a reason. Every year they get closer to the why.

Thanks for posting this Tranquility. It is interesting because I went in to hospital twice a couple of years ago with symptoms of stroke but this was dismissed after mri and ct scans. I lost my speech for a couple of weeks and still have problems with concentration and attention which manifested themselves when I found I couldn't read properly in hospital. This is still a problem now. I was dismissed from hospital being told if it happens again go to my gp. I'm sure they thought I was putting it on. Needless to say I have no desire to go near the neurology department of my hospital again.
