Recovered from surgery...

Checking in...the surgery for blood mass's is successful. My surgery recovery time is well on it's way. It has been two months now. I feel so much better since the surgery, the pain levels have decreased significantly. I have a small hiccup however, the stomach area holds five incision spots and two of those places simply do not seem to want to heal. I have gone into the doctor and they have tested it for staff and gave medication called cephalexin 500 mg three times a day. Tomorrow I go back in and have my INR check done at the clinic. My INR's continue to go up and down since the surgery and my diet is consistent. Working to find the balance again since the surgery, yet I feel very well with the exception of the wounds not healing all the way and there has been some serious bouts of dizzy spells. The dizzy spells have been very overwhelming when they flow through. I have to lay down and stay still so the room does not twist around me. I have been issued a self INR machine, yet no one in my entire area will allow the machine even my pharmacist. They simply do not seem to know how to process it through our insurance even though our insurance allows for it with the doctor approved prescription. One more piece that is recurring, I believe is from the INR not fully stabilizing, is my joints and headaches are constant again. My home doctor does not want to issue palanquin considering how hard it is on my eyes and I have had three different eye glass prescriptions w/my eyes changing in the last two years. I wish there was an herbal remedy to help with the stiffness from the joints seizing that does not interrupt the INR level. All in all I am doing well and wondered how everyone here is doing, I appreciate all of the support that I find here. This sight has helped significantly w/support.

Christmas is arriving soon, Merry Christmas to all of you.

The snow has made it's way here in Oregon

Hi, great to hear your news and that you are doing so well, sometimes basic stuff can be overlooked due to the emergency of more pressing things. Please make sure you scrutinize your vitamin D, b and iron levels.... this is important in terms of healing! Also you INR may be all over the place for while with the surgery that has gone on and the antibiotics. MaryF

Hi Becca!

So glad to hear from you and that the surgery was successful. My knowledge of the English language makes is difficult for me to understand why you can not have a machine to selftest your INRs. Hope you can have one.

It will soon calm down I am sure. Do not forget to rest.

We have not had any snow in Stockholm yet. Only up in the middle and the north of Sweden.

Today the sun was shining when I passed the Royal Castle. I took a lovely picture from the bridge over the water and the City Hall. The sun is like gold on this time of the year.

On Wednesday (10/12) the annual Nobel Prize Ceremony will take place and I know that the Winners are already here and could see the sun today

Best wishes to you and A Merry Chistmans also!

Kerstin.

With your wonderful attitude and cheerful disposition I am sure you will heal quickly Becca. I'm not sure what to make of the insurance problems with the self test machine but it sounds like it would be worth the fight. Blessings.

Good to read of your surgery's positive results!

I can say that remaining active has proven to be the best treatment for my joint pain. I have profited from seeing a very dedicated and comptent physical therapist who has taught me how to walk and move correctly, and the importance of doing so.

As Mary said above, aqua therapy can be wonderful: aerobic, improves mobility, but little joint stress.
