I am taking warfarin and my INR today went 3.7. What can I do to get it back down between 2.0-3.0?

Also while at 3.7 I became lighted headed 3 times that day & had to lie down. How do you prevent this light headiness?

You need to speak to your Gp Today most people need to have the INR a bit higher, 1.0 is much too low it is what someone would have when not on warfarin.

Hi i am on warfarin my target range is 4.5 /5.5 as i have APS and have so many clots and still get them when range is at this level , My INR is always all over the place i have to have bloods done at least twice a week for life now,You must speak to your GP normally they adjust the dose but that seems ok depending why you are on warfarin.My daily dose is 40mg to 50mg very high amount.

It sounds just perfect INR to me. Are you diagnosed APS?

"Normally" people have around 1 and that is without warfarin. We have sticky blood, too thick blood, thats why we need warfarin for not clotting.

Most APS-doctors set a range between 2.5 - 3.5 often higher. Do not panic if you have been ordered warfarin and you have APS and you are sure your INR was 3.7

With this illness it is more common to have a clot than to bleed when the INR is a little too high.

I know this very well and I selftest to keep my INR in range which can be difficult.

Hope you have a doctor that knows APS which is VERY important for us

So many foods and activities effect warfarin's effect on your INR. Do talk to your doc. Also, keep a log of foods eaten, weight, unusual events, ( such as a cold or a tummy upset.) Eventually you will become more adept at knowing how to help keep your INR at therapeutic level. But a warning: many of us have found that our therapeutic level can change over time.

But do consult with your doc or clinic about your high-ish INR (though many of us would not experience that number as 'high.' Warfarin has a half life of a couple of days.
